Description

Yay finally a new full drawing! Well kinda XD This is actually Ti'maar's brother, remember him? XD Cheetah Warrior *cringes. I totally had a name for him a few days ago too, but have forgotten it D: I will try to remember sooner than later XD

This one is a first in regards to the initial sketch for this came from a traditional pencil sketch scanned into Clip Studio Paint. I've never done that, but I find the only thing I do faster in traditional is pencils :P And I liked how this one turned out in my sketchbook, so I decided to finish it ^^ (and yes I am finally working on the comic again haha, finishing up sketches now)

So I mentioned I had an epiphany XD I was looking at some traditional paintings and I realized something... I already knew how I color digitally is a lot like acrylics/oils and... I realized... have been painting backwards this entire time... I was sitting here like a idiot trying to figure out how they layer their shadows so nicely, when in reality it is the lighter colors layered over the darker ones XD So with this drawing I was practically re-teaching myself how to paint :P Not too surprising the result was _much_ better XD So I took it slow and experimented a lot on this one, so it took like all afternoon yesterday lol. I'm eager to do more coloring and painting like this in the future, now that I figured out what I was doing wrong haha.

Also I used Frenden's brushes for almost all of this, they are pretty awesome XD frenden.myshopify.com/collecti…

In the end I really like how this turned out! I am so tempted to try more lineless acrylic styled paintings right now XD I just love inks so much :meow:

Let me know what you think! Like always suggestions and critiques on how I can improve are quite welcome :la:

I really love this work. Regarding the atmosphere: it fits the piece very well. A desolated, deserted, very hot place with dim, pale grass represent a Savannah-like climate quite well. Minimal and cheap clothing fits that well, because of how blazing hot and dry such a place is. I like the use of bandages here as they fit the mood very well, although coupled with... (uh, what is that on his neck? An army dog tag? A talisman?)... and with the bat and a belt across his chest, he reminds me of the 'Scout' from Team Fortress. Not that it is a bad thing and a bad design, but they do look remarkably similar in my opinion.

Moving on to the technique, I think you did a great job with the texture of different objects. The fur and paws are particularly well done, but the ground and bandages are also quite realistic and almost have that sandy feel you'd get if you could touch them. That is probably what stood out the most to me when I looked at your painting for the first time. The pose is also very good, relaxed and dynamic enough to catch the eye. The only queston I have - shouldn't there also be shadows on the wall from the right hand, judging by where the light source seems to be?

Overall I think the piece is very well done and I liked it a lot! Great job and thank you for sharing your art with us!
